Gov. Newsom signed transparency law for charter schools

Event Date

Gavin Newsom signed a bill which leveled the playing field for transparency when it comes to educational institutions in receipt of public funding.  The new law, effective January 1, 2020, requires adherence of charter schools and management organizations to public records and open meeting laws such as the Brown or Bagley Keene Acts, Public Records Act, conflict of interest provisions and the Political Reform Act, just as public school districts do.
